Actually, I believe it was mod_rewrite. Actually… I don’t know. But somehow I got it working now, so all the pages linked around here have “pretty” url’s like:

"http://www.digimuzik.com/2004/07/27/permalinks-are-annoying/"

rather than a big funky string that doesn’t make any sense. Probably not of any interest to anyone, but I’m proud of myself for getting it to work!

So in a followup post related to one of my friends’s, digimuzik.com mail server is up and running fully. The only thing it lacks right now is webmail… perhaps a future feature. But if any of you want your own whoever@digimuzik.com, buzz me off an email! Or… comment to this since I don’t put my email address up on the site anymore!

I found a way to import my old journal from crazylife into wordpress. They’re all coming in as “private,” so only I can see them, but as I go through and re-read them, I’ll probably move some over to the actual site. That way I can filter out the bad/embarrasing entries I made over the last two years!

Update: Yup, about 100 entries. Just finished going through them all and posting the good ones. Might try to pull the comments up sometime, but not in the near future. Anyway… it was kindof fun reading all my old entries.

Hey, sweet. I have gallery running on my server now, too. It’s great what you can do with php. Now, to just retrieve my albums from Russ’s gallery, then My Gallery Page won’t be so empty!

Well, that was pretty painless. Most of the links from the old site have been incorporated into this one, so I figured I might as well update and make this the actual homepage.

Hey. By some miracle, I got php, mysql, and wordpress working on a windows server. Now to play around with configurations!

Two days ago:
Installed Mandrake 10.0 on my laptop. Looks pretty, but annoying features shall cause me not to use it on my laptop… at least for quite awhile. Good waste of 8gigs of my drive.

Yesterday:
Re-installed Windows XP on the laptop. I got to try out the freebie MS Security updates cd as of Feb. 2004. After that, windows update downloaded 17 critical patches. I restarted, and downloaded 4 more critical patches. Restart again and still had 3 critical patches to download. Isn’t microsoft grand?!

Today/Tomorrow:
Kill the OS on my shuttle and re-do it. It’s not quite as bad as the laptop was, but it’s hurting for a re-install. Yay for free time in the summer!

So, yesterday… I woke up and was reading ST, when I scrolled down to the bottom of a thread and suddenly noticed I had extra buttons. I went back out to the main page and just about jumped out of my seat when I saw Moderators: Russ, DigiMuzik listed at the top of the comptuers forum. (Jumping out of my seat is not a common event at 7:30am)

Rumor has it that I was reccomended by a former mod and super-cool-friend. Well, I’ll try to do a good job 🙂 . I’ve already started cleaning the Stuff for Sale/Wanted sticky, and I spent most of yesterday making a new FAQ which, in my humble opinion, is quite nice. Easier to navigate at least. Next on the agenda: locking random threads. 🙂

Uh… yeah. just kidding about that one.

So I got myself 2 new 17" Diamondtron monitors. I was planning to use only 1, but the resolution and brightness of it made me so happy, I reshaped the heatsink on my PCI vid card so it would fit into the Shuttle case and give me dual monitors! Yay for 3200×1200 goodness. Can always throw the TV on as yet another display too. W00t!

No actually, I proudly finished transfering my ftpserver, webserver, and IRC logging over to the new shuttle box, and for the first time this semester, turned off the mini-desktop computer. There’s seriously a very eerie silence coming from that corner of the room. It almost hurts my ear.

Heh, ah well. Nice new computer. Purrr…..
